3. The Ruff Memorial Stone

The Ruff Memorial Stone stands in the West corner of Mitcham Cricket Green. It records the names of outstanding Mitcham Cricketers.

The Stone was erected in honour of Tom Ruff. He was mayor of Mitcham at the time of his death in March 1962. Tom was a local businessman with a great love of Mitcham Cricket Club. Along with Burn Bullock he was one of those who kept the Club active during the Second World War. He served the Club in many capacities, including as captain of the Wednesday XI.

The cost of making the Stone and putting it in place was met from voluntary contributions from throughout the Borough.
