Alleyn beaten by u14s and u12s

MCC u12 – 109-4 (20)
Alleyn u12 – 99-8 (20)

Fresh from last week’s friendly victory, Mitcham under 12s went to winless Alleyn full of confidence. Batting first they set one of their highest scores of the season. Mohammed again led the way retiring on 30; Faebian supported with an excellent 27* as they posted 109-4. The home side kept up with the run rate but a massive improvement in Mitcham’s bowling saw wickets tumble. Ahmed took an impressive 2 for 7, and rising star Daif again bowled with great control. The 20th over saw Alleyn needing 11 to win. But a brilliant death-bowling maiden from Daif gave Mitcham the win by 10 runs.

MCC u14 – 147-9 (20)
Alleyn u14 – 87 all out (15)

The under14’s gained revenge for a defeat in June as they beat Alleyn u14s at the Green. For the second week running the home side started slowly; losing their top three for 31. At 42-6 in the 11th over a poor total looked likely. But again the middle order steadied the ship, Abiram again to the fore as he hit a patient 12 to support Hammad (33) and Janardhan (a club best 23). The total of 147-8 was helped by 57 extras. Sam (3-11) was the pick of the bowlers.
The Alleyn reply never got going as wickets fell on the 2nd and 3rd ball of the innings. By the end of the 9th over the score was 35-8. Levi, Archie and Harry never gave up and made the scoreline respectable but the 60-run winning margin was fair reward for a great performance by Mitcham.
Two amazing bowling performances were the highlight for Mitcham. Part time spinner Zubair took 3-1-7-5 and Muneef left his wicket keeping gloves to bowl beautifully to take 4-0-12-5. Great work boys.
Our thoughts are with brave all-rounder Roy who had to make a trip to A&E after the game to stitch a nasty cut on his arm sustained diving for a catch. Get well soon Roy.
